A versatile performer of Spanish Flamenco and Latin American music, Julius Carrasco is a professional guitarist with more than 30 years experience.   He began playing guitar at three years old.  He discovered a love of performing at age eight, entertaining his family, friends, and neighbors.  As a music professional, he received a degree in music from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he attended master classes taught by legendary Spanish guitarist Narciso Yepes. 

In 1971, he toured the world for six months with the dance company, Los Caraperos, including performances in Thailand and the Philippines.  In 1993, Julius traveled to Madrid to learn more about Spanish music.  In 1996, he returned to Spain at Sanlucar, where he attended master classes  taught by Gerardo Nunez, renowned as the key innovator behind nuevo flamenco.  Nuevo flamenco blends jazz with flamenco for an exciting, contemporary sound.  In 1997, Julius released his first album, Solo con la Guitarra (Alone with the Guitar), an entrancing blend of traditional Spanish Flamenco and Latin songs.  In 1999, he produced his second CD, El Tesoro de mi Vida (Treasure of my Life), an expression of his joy and enthusiasm for the passion of Flamenco.

The North Carolinian has released five albums, including Baroque is Bach and Suave Flamenco.  He currently resides in Chapel Hill and performs regularly as a soloist and with two world music bands, Los Tres Caballeros and Latin Sounds
